Band messa su da Rowland (Voce, Chitarra) con il fratello Harry (Basso), con la fidanzata Genevieve McGuckin (Tastiere) ed Epic Soundtracks (Batteria). Due sono stati gli album pubblicati dalla band.

• Crime & The City Solution

Rowland si unì ai Crime & The City Solution quando questi si spostarono a Berlino, nell'85. Restò nel gruppo per soli due anni, il tempo, però, di scrivere con loro due album. Il primo, in realtà un mini-album lo vedeva alle prese con il piano, mentre in Room Of Lights suonerà la chitarra, oltre al piano e all'organo. Nella band con lui, sempre dai Birthday Party, c'era anche Mick Harvey, che proseguì con i Crime anche negli anni seguenti, alle prese anch'egli con chitarra, piano ed organo. A completare la band, alla voce Simon Bonney, al basso Harry Howard ed alla batteria Epic Soundtracks, poi entrambi nei These Immortal Souls.

• con Lydia Lunch

La collaborazione tra Rowland S. Howard e Lydia Lunch è andata avanti per molti anni. I due, oltre ai live assieme, hanno pubblicato prima un EP, nel 1982 e poi un album, nel 1991. In Some Velvet Morning, Rowland si occupa della chitarra e del sassofono, oltre alla voce assieme a Lydia. Da notare come nelle due tracce suonino anche Mick Harvey alla batteria e Barry Adamson al basso, entrambi, poi, nei Bad Seeds. La ristampa di Shotgun Wedding, invece, vedrà la presenza di un bonus disc con l'intero album suonato dal vivo, al Paradiso, in Olanda, nel 1993.
