Il 7 Ottobre 2007 Nick Cave è stato inserito nell'ARIA Hall Of Fame. La riconoscenza viene data dall'industria musicale agli artisti australiani che più si mettono in risalto per eccellenza ed innovazione.

Quella Domenica, Nick, tenne un discorso piuttosto piccato, atto a celebrare lui stesso chi, su quel palco, meritava di esserci tanto quanto lui: i Bad Seeds ed i Birthday Party.

Thank you very much for this. I can’t really accept this until we get a few things streight. What I can’t figure out is why I’m up here, and the bad seeds aren’t. Now I’ve, thank you, I’ve been told it’s because the bad seeds aren't an Australian act and that there's a few foreigners in the band, but to me the bad seeds have always been an australian act, and we’ve been out overseas making authentic australian music.

So, thank  you, so I would like to do a little bit of inducting myself:

Mick harvey, whom I've worked with for 35 years, a great musician. The mind-bendingly gifted Warren Ellis. Piano-player extraordinare Conway savage, and Martin Casey who’s the, just the greatest bass player in the world. I hereby induct you into the ARIA hall of fame.

Now that’s been sorted out, there's one other matter, before the bad seeds, I was in a band called The Birthday Party. Now The Birthday Party’s had untold influence over music in Australia and internationally, largly due to the guitar work of Roland. S. Howard and the late, great, Tracy Pew, a giant rock musician. And I would like to, with the power vested in me, induct these people also, into the aria hall of fame!

And finally, I’d like to thank my mother, my darling wife Suzy and my four boys, Jethro, Luke, Earl and Arthur.

Grazie per il premio. Io, però, non posso accettarlo prima di aver messo alcune cose in chiaro. Quello che non riesco a capire è perchè io sono qui, sul palco, ed i Bad Seeds non ci sono. Ora, mi è stato detto che i Bad Seeds non sono un gruppo australiano e che ci sono alcuni stranieri nella band, ma per me i Bad Seeds sono sempre stati una band australiana e siamo stati in giro per il mondo facendo autentica musica australiana.

Quindi, grazie, ora devo includere io un pò di persone:

Mick Harvey, con cui ho lavorato per 35 anni, un meraviglioso musicista. L'indescrivibile talento di Warren Ellis. Lo straordinario pianista Conway Savage e Martyn Casey, che è semplicemente il migliore bassista del mondo. Ed io, con questo, vi includo nell'ARIA Hall of Fame.

Ora che abbiamo sistemato la cosa, c'è un'altra questione,  prima dei Bad Seeds io ero in un gruppo, i Birthday Party, che hanno avuto una indicibile influenza nella musica in Australia e nel mondo. E questo in gran parte grazie al lavoro del chitarrista Rowland S. Howard e del grande compianto Tracy Pew, un gigante della musica rock.  E mi fa piacere, con il potere da me acquisito, includervi tutti nell' ARIA Hall of Fame.
